CETL hosts the Teaching in the 21st Century Workshop

The Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) presents the Teaching in the 21st Century workshop with presenter, Mr. Henry Paul.

The workshop takes place March 21 from 9am to noon at the Tutorial Room 2 (TR2), Ground Floor, Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC).

About the workshop

This workshop explores teaching and learning in the 21st century. It elucidates on concepts of ‘elite’ education and ‘mass’ education in the context teaching/learning, and the need for continuous professional development in the complex, globalised, ‘massified’ and ‘commercialised’ higher education environment underpinned by information and communications technology (ICT). This workshop will engage educators in addressing the challenges of teaching and learning in the 21st century and how to engage students in the learning experience.

Topics include:

  • The instructional paradigm versus the learning paradigm
  • The Lecturer: Traditional Teaching versus Facilitation
  • The Student: Do You Know your Students?
  • Contemporary Forms of Educational Assessment
  • The Criticality of ICTs in Teaching and Learning
