Scholarship – A scholarship is a non-repayable award, usually based on academic merit and covers a student’s education expenses (tuition, examinations, book, boarding etc.) throughout their university tenure, once a B+ average is maintained.

Bursary – A bursary is a non-repayable ONE-TIME award based on merit and/or financial need and/or extra-curricular activities and/or other criteria as specified by a donor.

Please note: Bursaries are non-academic therefore you do not need to declare it on your GATE application.

Award – Any scholarship or bursary received is an award and recipients are called awardees.

Please note: You can apply for multiple awards however if you are successful for more than one, you can only keep one.
