UWI @ Bocas Lit Fest 2020: 10 Years of Caribbean Writers!

The virtual NGC Bocas Lit Fest celebrates 10 Years of Caribbean Writers and Caribbean Writing starting Friday, September 18 and runs until Sunday, September 20.

Staff, students and alumni from our UWI community will be a part of the two-day long online literary festival.

All festival events are free and accessible to all, with no tickets or registration. The programme will be streamed live at www.bocaslitfest.com/2020/live, facebook.com/bocaslitfest, and youtube.com/bocaslitfest.

Saturday, September 19:

12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. (EST) New Talent Showcase featuring recent graduates of the MFA in Creative Writing programme with programme coordinator, Dr. Muli Amaye. 

3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (EST)The Legacies of 1970 featuring UWI staff member Amilcar Santan among others.

4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (EST)Revolution Time featuring 2020 Writer-in-Residence Vahni Capildeo, Amilcar Sanatan among others.

Sunday, September 20:

10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (EST) A Question of Leadership: A Conversation with P.J. Patterson, Godfrey Smith and Alisssa Trotz, chaired by Andy Knight.  

12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. (EST)Crick Crack, Monkey at 50: A Celebration of the Half-Anniversary of Dr. Merle Hodge’s Beloved Novel. 

4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (EST)Home and Away: New Short Fiction by Zalika Reid Benta and Prof. Elizabeth Walcott-Hackshaw.

7:30 to 8:30 p.m. (EST) The Sea Needs No Ornament: Launching the Groundbreaking New Anthology chaired by Dr. Nicole Roberts.
