The Counselling & Psychological Services (CAPS) Department through the Division of Student Services and Development (DSSD) continues to be here for you this semester.

Mind Matters Open Forums for October Mental Health MonthEvery Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EST).

Virtual Walk-Ins –  Every Thursday afternoon between 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (EST) (students only)

Mindful Mondays for Meditation and Relaxation Every Monday  from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (EST) (staff and students)

Appointments with a Counsellor  

Counsellors are available by appointment, Mondays through Fridays throughout the year. Simply email counsellor@sta.uwi.edu to arrange a day and time that suits your schedule.

While campus remains closed, all appointments are available online or via the telephone.

Virtual Walk-ins for Students

Virtual Walk-ins are available on Thursday afternoons during the semester, starting from October 1. Sessions take place between the hours of 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (EST).

Counsellors offer brief, online consultations for students with urgent concerns.

If your situation is not urgent, email counsellor@sta.uwi.edu to arrange a full session with a counsellor on another day.

Safe Space Weekly Group Meetings for Students

About Safe Space

Safe Space is a dedicated initiative for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer or questioning (LGBTQ) concerns.  Whether you are a member or an ally of the LGBTQ community, you are welcome.

Once you join Safe Space, virtual weekly group meetings throughout the semester will facilitate ongoing discussions on various topics such as: negotiating different sexualities within our Caribbean context, exploring the fluidity of gender identity, dating and relationship dynamics, relationships with family and peers, sex, self esteem, body image, religion and more.

CAPS is committed to inclusivity to facilitate open dialogue on any and all LGBTQ matters.

Mind Matters Open Forums for October Health Month for Students

The CAPS hosts an open online Forum for students every Thursday for October Mental Health Month from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (EST) via Zoom.

Learn more about: managing stress, recognising depression, negotiating challenging relationships, coping with anxiety and more!

Each open forum tackles a different topic and then opens the virtual floor for participants to share concerns, ask questions, and find ways to support each other and improve coping skills.

CAPS Mindful Mondays for meditation & relaxation for Staff and Students

Invest 60 minutes to nurture a more relaxed you, every day!  

Explore ways to manage your stress, learn and practice simple everyday skills of Mindfulness and Meditation. Whether you are new to meditation or whether you meditate regularly and wish to try a group vibe all are welcome.

Virtual sessions take place every Monday during the semester starting on Monday, October 5 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (EST). via Zoom.
