Interested in teaching in France?

Would you like to work in France? Would you like to improve your level of French and your knowledge of France? Meet new people? Share your culture and language with French people? Would you like to have an impact on life in a French classroom?

The French Ministry of Education invites UWI, St Augustine students currently in their second or third academic year to apply for an English Assistant position to teach in a primary or secondary school, in Metropolitan France or French Guiana, for 7 to 9 months in the Academic Year 2021-2022.

Pay particular attention to the required Language Competence Level (a minimum of Level B1 on the Common European Reference Framework for Languages/CERF is compulsory – explanation is on the link and application form).

Eligibility criteria

You are :

  • from Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, St Lucia, Grenada or from any island partner of this programme
  • between 20 and 30 years old
  • an English Native speaker
  • enrolled in and attending a university at the time of application

Students eligible to apply can send a declaration of interest with a detailed CV (NOT the application forms - those must be delivered to the Alliance Française of Port-of-Spain after the UWI selection process is complete) to the following address assistantsinfrance@gmail.com. Students will then be contacted individually if necessary. Please also attach a letter of financial support/commitment from your family that will guarantee that you will leave with enough finances on a credit card to support yourself until your first salary is paid. Successful candidates will be invited to preparation and orientation meetings before departure.

Deadline is December 3, 2020 for the declaration of interest and letter of financial commitment.
