DMLL Research week: Language and Social Justice in the Caribbean

What does language have to do with social justice? 
 
In conversations about race, gender, migration, education, human rights, and social inequality, language appears as a central topic. Join the discussion about the relationship between language and the creation of more just societies. This event is open to anyone interested in these areas, including undergraduate and postgraduate students, teachers, secondary school students. 
 
The Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics will be hosting its annual Research Week on April 19 -21, 2021 from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. each day. This year’s theme, Language and Social Justice in the Caribbean will be the topic of discussion by guest speakers Professor Elizabeth Walcott-Hackshaw, Professor Hubert Devonish, Dr Clara Mohammed-Foucault and Dr Jo-Anne Ferreira.
