Are You Interested in the ICT Sector?

Posted Tuesday, September 27, 2022

  • Are you an undergraduate/graduate student looking for an interactive online experience?
  • Are you interested in ICT sector because you see it as an industry that will shape the future?
  • Are you eager for competing with globalized students of technical design?
  • Are you fascinated by the rise of Asia and ever wondered how things look like for companies operating in a dynamic global business in China?

If the answer to these questions is “yes”, then Seed for the Future is for you!

The UWI’s corporate partner, Huawei, announces that applications are open for its 2022 Seeds for the Future.

Every year, Huawei brings together young global talents from top universities to a free of charge, mind-blowing and life-changing exchange program in China. There, they explore Huawei’s cutting-edged ICT, experience traditional and modern Chinese culture, and hone their professional development. This year’s programme will be hosted virtually and will be held from November 7 – 14, 2022.

This year’s virtual Seeds for the Future for Trinidad and Tobago, will comprise mandatory ICT courses and pre-recorded electives that participants must also select in order to be awarded enough points to successfully complete the programme.

Students will obtain valuable cutting-edge ICT knowledge developed by Huawei’s Headquarters and experience a cross-cultural communication virtually. The scheme will offer undergraduate students a rich experience involving technology classes (including 5G, Cloud, AI, etc), leadership classes, cultural experiences, international corporate tour, and communication with peers around the world. We will also be incorporating in-person local talks and on-site tours with some of our own T&T ICT experts, to allow the students to learn more about what’s happening in the sector locally.

This year, we will also offer an immersive study trip to Panama to the top 3 students of the programme!

Participants will also be engaged in a team-work challenge, called Tech4Good, where they will be applying what they have learned to solve a real-life challenge.

If successful, the team can then move on to enter the project in the Global Tech4Good final event against other top teams from around the world!
