DCFA 'Visual Arts Exhibition'

Posted Tuesday, April 28, 2015

The Visual Arts Unit of the Department of Creative and Festival Arts (DCFA) presents their "Final Year Degree Show - Visual Arts Exhibition."

This exhibit opens on Sunday May 3 from 3pm at DCFA Gordon St., St. Augustine.

The works of 31 students will be featured including paintings, drawings, sculpture, ceramics, as well as areas of design such as packaging, illustrated graphic novels, fashion accessories and educational tools among other exciting projects.

The graduating Art and Design students also worked with students of the Guayaguayare R.C. School and the Bridge Foundation on several projects to promote literacy among the children of that school. The public can view and give feedback on illustrated children's storybooks that were co-written with the schoolchildren and designed by graduating students of the Visual Arts degree.

These books will be on display during the NGC Bocas Lit Fest from April 29 to May 2 at NALIS Library in Port-Of-Spain and will also be featured at the "Final Year Exhibition."

Schools are welcome at the exhibition, and art teachers wishing to bring their students can contact the DCFA Office to schedule their visit during these school-appointed days: Monday May 4 and Friday May 8

This is the first of several events that will take place at the Visual Arts Unit in May. Look out for upcoming events like the "Certificate Exhibition" which opens on May 17 and a Design Colloquium entitled "Ministry of Design – from cottage industry – to state enterprise" which takes place on May 28 and 29
