Webinar: Introduction to Open Education Resources (OER) in Higher Education

Are you interested in transforming the way you approach teaching and learning materials in Higher Education (HE)?

Join us for our "Introduction to Open Education Resources (OER) in Higher Education" workshop, where we'll explore the dynamic world of Open Educational Resources (OER) and unveil their immense potential in the HE landscapes.

This virtual webinar, hosted by the Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning (CETL), will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of OER and their significant role in HE. Faculty members will gain insights into the challenges and benefits of integrating OER into their classrooms, learn how universities have successfully implemented OER, and discover the process of creating, finding, evaluating, adapting, and sharing OER materials to cater to diverse learning needs. Participants will also delve into various licensing options and their implications for OER usage and distribution and be equipped to assess their teaching materials for the potential to release as OER. This session will be held virtually on Thursday, October 19 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Dr. Mairette Newman and Professor Jane-Frances Agbu will be the featured presenters.

Outcomes

Upon completion of this workshop, you will be able to: 

1.       Describe Open Education Resources (OER) in relation to the Higher Education context. 

2.       Identify the challenges and benefits of using OER in HE classrooms.

3.       Recognise the diverse ways in which OER has been implemented in universities. 

4.       Explore the process of creating, locating, evaluating, adapting, and sharing OER to support diverse learning needs.

5.       Recognize various licensing options and their implications for OER usage and distribution.

6.       Assess teaching materials for the potential to release as OER.
