Case Scenario “It was a typical Monday morning at the office, looking at emails that came in over the weekend. One of the messages that found its way into the queue stated that your email access would be blocked by midday if you did not update your password. Hurriedly and in a state of panic, you clicked on the link in the email and went ahead and updated your password. Within minutes, however, you were locked out of your account, and the nightmare ensued. You were now challenged to recover your email and protect your personal identity.”
Despite common assumptions among employees that cybersecurity falls solely under Campus IT Services' (CITS) responsibility, the truth is that every staff member plays a pivotal role in maintaining the security of the University's data. Cybercriminals are continually advancing in their methods, underscoring the importance of arming oneself with the knowledge and skills needed to defend against threats both for personal and institutional protection.
CITS has made it easier for members of the campus community to access and complete the CITS CyberSecurity Course. You no longer need to pre-register. The CITS Cybersecurity Course has been updated to open enrolment and is now accessible to all staff and students with login access to the myeLearning platform. A link was placed on the Myelearning support block for easy navigation and access. The CyberSecurity Course will provide much-needed information to combat the heightened cybersecurity risk we all face.
