The UWI Cricket Club, St. Augustine (UWICC) continues in winning ways in the TTCB East Zone (TTCBEZ) Competitions of 2024. Having won the high intensity Chairman's T12 Tournament in January for the second consecutive year, the Club has now added the Senior Division 2-Day Title to its trophy cabinet, topping the points standings with 122 points from seven matches. Captain Jameel Lashley led the way with the bat scoring 433 runs, including 2 centuries at an average of 72.17. 19-year-old Faculty of Social Sciences student, Rondell Ramlogan amassed the next highest total number of runs (415), scoring a century and two 90's at an average of 69.17. Legspinner Bhisham Kissoon was the pick of the bowlers claiming 28 wickets at an average of 12.68 runs with best bowling figures of 5/46.
Meanwhile, in the Reserve Team Competitions, the UWICC placed 3rd in the Limited Overs Competition and narrowly missed out on a top 3 spot in the T20 competition due to a net run rate inferior to the 3rd place team. Notable contributions were made with the bat by Duane Cockburn, Mikeal Sinanan and captain Tamayo Hutton, and in the bowling department by Amaziyah Agard, Shawn Hosein and Renaldo Manchan.
On Saturday, May 4, 2024, the men's cricket team defeated Agents to win the TTCBEZ Senior Division 40 Overs championship. The team has won three (3) trophies this season and is in a strong position to win the T20, the season's final trophy.
