Designed for Forms 3 and 4 students in Trinidad and Tobago, the "Green Innovators Challenge" is a secondary school competition that aims to stimulate interest and creativity in agricultural sciences and environmental sciences among young students.
This competition will be structured in three parts, each designed to explore different facets of these fields, engaging students through art, social media, and innovation.
The objectives of this initiative are to focus on sustainable, technology-enhanced agriculture within Trinidad and Tobago; to blend creativity with education, encouraging students to use their social media skills to promote awareness about food security issues in the Caribbean; and to foster a practical understanding of food production through hands-on innovation.
Competition Details
Categories:
Art Competition: Students will create artworks depicting an aspect of agriculture in Trinidad and Tobago, with a focus on sustainable, technology-enhanced agriculture. Guidelines: Artwork can include Paintings, drawings, digital art, carvings, sculpture, etc. Submission should creatively express themes such as sustainable farming, local crops, or the role of technology in agriculture.
Social Media Content: This category aims to blend creativity with education, encouraging students to use their social media skills to promote awareness about food security issues in the Caribbean. Guidelines: Each team must produce a social media content, such as a video or multimedia post, that aligns with the competition’s theme. The content should emphasize sustainable agriculture, innovative practices, and climate resilience in agriculture.
Models/Design: To foster a practical understanding of food production through hands-on innovation. Project Description: Students are tasked with either, engineering a prototype of an innovative product that could improve food production OR creating a novel food product/item using local food items/materials
Eligibility:
Groups of 5-6 students, aged 14-16, along with a supervisory teacher.
Instructions:
Teams of 5-6 Students, along with a supervising Teacher, can apply for one of the three categories listed below. Schools can submit multiple applications, each for a different category. All submissions must be original. Plagiarized or AI-generated content will result in disqualification.
