CETL Workshop Series: Mentimeter Demonstration for UWI

Posted Monday, September 16, 2024

On Friday, October 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., join CETL Director, Dr. Leroy Hill, and Ms. Catherine Pema, Mentimeter expert, for the Mentimeter Demonstration Online Workshop.

Mentimeter is an audience response system (ARS) used to facilitate active student participation and to involve the audience during a presentation. Thus, mentimeter transforms presentations into interactive experiences. By using their mobile devices, audience members can actively participate in polls, quizzes, and word clouds. This real-time engagement enhances understanding and fosters a more dynamic learning environment. During this workshop, a Mentimeter expert will guide participants through a hands-on demonstration, showcasing how to create engaging presentations and leverage the power of audience interaction.

Learning Outcomes:

1.   Master Mentimeter Basics: Explore the core functionalities of Mentimeter and how to create engaging presentations.

2.   Design Interactive Activities: Learn how to develop interactive activities, such as polls, word clouds, and quizzes, to enhance audience participation.

3.   Analyze Audience Feedback: Discover how to use Mentimeter's analytics tools to gather valuable insights and improve future presentations.

CETL is making a special call for volunteers to take part in a 28-day trial.  The first 8 persons to send a request to leroy.hill@sta.uwi.edu will be included in this trial.  Individuals will be required to give a short 50 word testimonial of how the tool worked for them.
