The Mathematics Help Centre (MHC) at UWI St. Augustine provides face-to-face and online assistance to students facing difficulties in courses with Mathematics and Statistics components across all faculties on the St. Augustine and Open Campuses.
The centre aims to enhance students' learning processes and help them understand mathematical concepts. The MHC is located on the second floor of the Old Wing of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) Building on the St. Augustine campus and can also be accessed online through the myeLearning course “Math Help Centre.”
The centre is available for both face-to-face and online sessions via Zoom from Monday to Friday (except Thursdays) between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with Thursday hours from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A Discussion Forum is also available for students to post questions.
Tutors, including instructors, teaching assistants, demonstrators, and associate professionals from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, assist students with their questions. Students are required to bring their course materials and any attempts at the questions they need help with.
While tutors will provide guidance and support, they do not proofread assignments or provide opinions on grading. If a tutor is unable to answer a question, students will be referred to another tutor with the necessary expertise. Graduate students with projects will be referred to the Statistical Consulting Unit.
For further inquiries, students can contact the MHC via email at STA-mathhelpcentre@sta.uwi.edu or by phone at 662-2002 ext. 83553 / 83641.
