As part of History Fest’s 11th Anniversary Celebrations, The UWI St. Augustine’s Department of History, invites participants to partake in #HistoryisAlive25. This competition requires participants to spotlight a historical site in Trinidad or Tobago with an Indigenous, Spanish, French, English, Dutch, Danish, African, Indian, Chinese OR Syrian/Lebanese name through a 30-60 second Instagram reel. In this reel, participants are to highlight the history of the place you have selected, including but not limited to information about how the place got its name, famous people connected to the site and its main attractions.
The competition not only emphasises creativity and historical significance but also involves the wider community through public engagement—likes and shares. As a tribute to eleven years of History Fest, this Instagram reel competition fosters a sense of connection to the past and celebrates the rich history and heritage of Trinidad and Tobago.
With a one-entry limit per participant, History is Alive embraces all age groups, allowing those under 13 to submit through a parent's profile. If the profile being used is registered to a participant under the age of 13, the profile must clearly state in the account's bio that the account is managed by a parent or manager (per Instagram’s policy requirement).
Additionally, all participants under the age of 18 MUST submit a consent form signed by a parent or guardian. The consent form will be made available to the participant upon submission of the video. Only after the signed form is returned will the entry be officially accepted and published for public engagement.
