UMatter is a new youth chatline offering mental health and wellbeing support for students. This pilot project is a collaboration between several key partners, including the Ministry of Health – Trinidad and Tobago, UNICEF, the Caribbean Child Development Centre, The UWI Global Campus and the Department of Behavioural Sciences.
UWI students aged 18–35 who are facing challenges and need support can WhatsApp 763- 7336 from 3 p.m. to 12 midnight, daily. The service is free, confidential, and anonymous, connecting students with trained volunteers who offer text-based support and provide referrals for resources both on and off-campus.
Students can message the chatline as often as needed. The second pilot phase runs from March 10 to April 6, 2025.
