April is RIM Month

Posted Thursday, March 20, 2025

Since 1995, records managers worldwide have celebrated April as Records and Information Management (RIM) Month which highlights the essential role effective records management plays in maintaining organisational efficiency, compliance, and security.

RIM Month aims to emphasise the value of organising and maintaining records in all formats, ensuring the smooth and effective management of any organisation. April offers a chance for all of us to reflect on how we can improve our records management practices, both personally and professionally.

This year, we are kicking things off with the official launch of our Campus Records Inventory. This initiative marks a significant step in evolving our records and information management function across the Campus. It will help us assess, organise, and optimise how we handle records and information, ensuring we are ready for future advancements and fully compliant with best practices.

In addition to the Records Inventory, we are introducing a range of other exciting initiatives throughout RIM Month. One highlight is our Interactive Online Contest—a fun and engaging quiz where you can test your knowledge on records management practices, retention policies, and more. It is a great way to learn and improve your understanding, with prizes for those who answer the most questions correctly!

The Archives and Records Management Department invites everyone to get involved in these initiatives. We are committed to advancing knowledge and best practices in records management, and every member of the campus—whether you have a dedicated role in this area or not—plays an important part in the success of our RIM health.

Stay tuned for more events, resources, and tips to help you improve your records management practices throughout April.
