The University of the West Indies (The UWI), St. Augustine, introduced its No Thoroughfare Policy in 2016 to restrict campus access exclusively to staff, students, and authorised persons conducting business on the premises.
The Campus reaffirms its commitment to uphold this policy. Effective September 8, the policy will be enforced and the following measures will apply:
Authorised Vehicles
Vehicles displaying valid 2025/2026 UWI vehicle permits may enter the campus via:
- North Gate (near Republic Bank)
- South Gate (adjacent to the Churchill Roosevelt Highway)
Unauthorised Vehicles
- Vehicles without valid 2025/2026 permits will be redirected to the Visitor's Entrance (Daaga Gate, St Augustine Circular Road, opposite Freedom Hall) where enhanced security screening will be in effect.
- Vehicular traffic at the Daaga Entrance will continue to operate in both directions. While screening measures will be more rigorous at this location, there are no traffic restrictions.
