Archival collections on feminist activism and history
Hosted by the Institute for Gender and Development Studies (IGDS) in collaboration with the West Indiana Collection (WISC), this exhibition showcases two archival collections highlighting the Making of Feminisms in the Caribbean.
The displays feature a rich repository of historical materials documenting feminist activism from the early 20th century to the present. Visitors can explore both the physical exhibition and the digital collections via the UWISpace platform.

Featured Displays:
1. CAFRA Regional Special Collection Scrapbooks, newsletters, annual reports, conference and project documents, and administrative records highlighting the Caribbean Association for Feminist Research and Action’s three decades of work. This includes key contributions to women’s health, reproductive rights, political participation, and sustainable development, culminating in CAFRA’s pivotal role in preparations for the 1995 Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing.
2. Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women Artefacts, ephemera, and papers from the collection of Professor Rhoda Reddock, documenting critical regional engagement and feminist activism surrounding the Beijing Conference.
The Making of Feminisms in the Caribbean collections aim to inspire a new generation of scholars and activists by preserving and sharing key historical and documentary materials. This ongoing archive also includes the open-access Caribbean Review of Gender Studies, featuring peer-reviewed essays, dialogues, photo and video essays, poetry, and book reviews.
