World Mental Health Day2025: Access to Services in Catastrophes&Emergencies

Posted Wednesday, October 8, 2025

The Health Services Unit (HSU) Health and Wellness Team invites all students to participate in activities marking World Mental Health Day 2025. This year’s theme, Access to Services in Catastrophes and Emergenciesfocuses on understanding how to provide support during crises.

Their booth will introduce Psychological First Aid, a set of practical skills that anyone can use, not just professionals. You will learn simple, effective ways to support yourself and others in mass casualty or emergency situations, including how to recognize when someone needs more advanced care and refer them appropriately.

Event Details:

Date: Thursday, October 9, 2025

Time: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Location: Student Activity Centre (SAC)

The booth will feature interactive activities, educational materials, games and giveaways, with assistance from members of the Peer Counselling Association.

Follow-up booths and displays will also be hosted at the Faculty of Medical Sciences and the Couva Multi Training Facility in the coming weeks.

We encourage all students to visit the booths, engage with the materials and gain the skills to support others safely during emergencies.
