The Faculty of Food and Agriculture (FFA) in collaboration with Banwari Experience Limited is hosting its 1st FFA International Conference on Food Security and Sustainable Tourism 2026 from March 31 to 1st April 2026. Themed "From Soil to Society: Advancing Food and Nutrition Security, Cultural Gastronomy, and Sustainable Tourism to achieve the SDGs", it will take place at The University of the West Indies, St Augustine Campus, Trinidad and Tobago.
Abstract deadline extended to 20 January 2026, with rolling approvals continuing until 20 March 2026. Upload abstracts of 200 words or less here.
The theme underscores the vital role of culture in promoting planetary health and food and nutrition security. Participation is open to scholars, policy makers, foodies, cultural advocates, artists, Indigenous Peoples, graduate students, professionals and the public. Papers, posters and panels are invited on the following sub-themes:
1. Cultivating Continuity: indigenous and local agri-food knowledge for the Future
2. The culture of taste and moving away from home: food, travel, and identity
3. The sustainable feast: linking agroecology, local food, and cultural heritage
4. Safe soil and soil care: the starting place of all seed, knowledge and culture
5. Innovation, food, NCDs and entrepreneurship: making good food healthy
6. Agriculture, natural resource use and planetary health in small states from ridge to reef
7. Climate change realities and developing resilient communities farming systems
8. Calling all local, regional, development banks, insurance companies and the multilateral agencies: we won’t have a leg to stand on?
9. Taste of Place: Terroir, Tradition, and the Tourism Experience
10. Over tourism and growing tensions
11. Cultural industries, bioresources and intellectual property in small states: copyright, piracy and technology
12. Regional policies and growing schisms: what does national security and food sovereignty have to do with it?
13. Sustainable Gastronomy Tourism: Business Models for Community Resilience and Visitor Experience.
Other topics and panel proposals related to the conference theme are welcome. A selection of papers shall be considered for publication in a special issue of the FFA journal Tropical Agriculture.

**Following the conference, Banwari Experience Limited will host the 3rd Annual Caribbean Beachfood Festival from Friday, April 3 to Sunday April 5 2026.
