The Department of Literary, Cultural and Communication Studies at The University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine Campus invites submissions for the International Media and Communication Conference (IMCC) 2026, to be held 24–26 June 2026 at The UWI St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad and Tobago.
As artificial intelligence continues to reshape media production, communication practices and cultural expression, IMCC 2026 creates a critical space for dialogue at the intersection of technology, society and the humanities. The conference brings together scholars, practitioners, policymakers, creatives and graduate students to examine how AI-driven transformations are redefining media and communication locally, regionally and globally.
Conference Objectives
· Examine the impact of AI on Caribbean and global media ecosystems
· Promote ethical, inclusive, and critical approaches to AI and digital media
· Reimagine the role of the Humanities in an increasingly digital world
· Provide a platform for postgraduate students and early-career researchers
Conference Strands and Topics
Submissions are welcomed across a wide range of themes, including but not limited to:
· Digital Media & Transformation
· AI and the Future of Media & Communication
· Social Media & Society
· Media Literacy, Trust, and Globalization
· Health, Crisis, and Climate Communication in the Digital Era
(Individual paper presentations, panels and poster sessions are encouraged.)
· Abstracts should be no more than 250 words
· Submissions must include: title, background, methodology, and results or proposed findings
· Five relevant keywords are required
· Abstracts must be submitted as a Microsoft Word document (12-point font, 1.5 spacing)
· A cover page must include author name(s), affiliation(s), presentation format, selected strand, and contact email Submission via email to STA-LMCConference2026@uwi.edu
Submit one abstract per panel (3–4 presenters)

· Summary of each presenter’s contribution
