Following the announcement in the 2025–2026 National Budget, the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) weekly contribution rates increased by 2%, effective January 2026. The impact may not have been immediately apparent, given that December 2025 had five Mondays and January 2026 had four, which resulted in a net decrease over the two-month period.
