The UWI Latin American-Caribbean Centre (LACC), together with its partner the University of Guantánamo, invites UWI staff and students to participate in the 1st International Scientific Convention in Guantánamo, taking place May 20–23, 2026.

This convention brings together experts, students and community leaders for a global exchange of ideas and innovations focused on building a more sustainable future. Whether you’re presenting research or attending to learn and connect, this event offers a dynamic platform for collaboration and impact.

-          A global meeting point: Participate in person at Hotel Guantánamo or virtually from anywhere.

-          Wide-ranging themes: Engage with sessions spanning technology, renewable energy, sustainable tourism, language & culture, sports, and modern education.

-          Experience Cuba (in person): Enjoy cultural excursions to historic sites, the Stone Zoo and the UNESCO-recognized Alejandro de Humboldt Park.

-          Inclusive participation: Sessions will be offered in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

-          Abstract deadline: March 31, 2026 (for those submitting research/projects)

-          Early-bird payment deadline: April 30, 2026
