Nominations are now open for the 9th MIDORI Prize for Biodiversity 2026, which recognizes outstanding individual contributions to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. The Prize also helps to raise public awareness of the vital role biodiversity plays in human well-being and in addressing global challenges such as climate change.
The MIDORI Prize is presented in three areas: Implementation, Science and Research and Policy and Enlightenment, reflecting the importance of a whole-of-society approach to advancing the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
Nomination Period: 2 February to 31 March 2026

Award Ceremony and Awardees’ Forum: 27 August 2026
Location: Tokyo, Japan
The 2026 Award Ceremony and Awardees’ Forum will also contribute to global momentum leading up to COP 17 of the Convention on Biological Diversity, to be held in Yerevan, Armenia, under the theme “Taking action for Nature.”
