The Archives and Records Management Department is marking RIM Awareness Month 2026 with a practical awareness campaign focused on simple actions that staff can take to improve how records and information are managed—no new systems or tools required.
RIM is not separate from our day-to-day responsibilities. Every time a document is created, a file is saved, an email is sent or information is shared, records and information management practices are being shaped. RIM also goes beyond retention and paper files; it includes how records are organised, stored, accessed, protected and disposed of, across all formats, including emails, digital files and audio and video recordings.
Throughout April, the campus community is encouraged to participate in short weekly activities designed to help staff:
- organise records so they are easier to find
- create simple and consistent folder structures
- store campus records and information in appropriate, approved locations and systems
Each activity is expected to take only 10 to 15 minutes and can be easily incorporated into the workday. Clcik here to access the list of activities.
Weekly highlights will be featured each Thursday during April on behalf of the Archives and Records Management Department on the following dates:
- April 9, 2026
- April 16, 2026
- April 23, 2026
- April 30, 2026
The campus community is encouraged to follow the weekly tips and activities and take part in building small habits that support a more efficient, consistent and collaborative working environment.
