The International Office presents a week of activities dedicated to Cuba - Cuba Week. See the schedule below.

November 2: Public Lecture by Cuban Ambassador Isabel Allende Karam

Institute of International Relations (IIR) presents a Public Lecture by Ambassador Isabel Allende Karam, Principal of the Superior Institute of International Relations of Raul Roa Garcia, Havana Cuba.

Listen to her speak about Cuban foreign policy and Caribbean challenges for regional development and cooperation initiatives from 9am to noon at the Institute of International Relations (IIR). Admission is free. RSVP required, please email iirt@sta.uwi.edu to confirm your attendance.

November 5: Cuba Forum

The Institute of Critical Thinking Executive Development Unit presents the Cuba Forum – an opportunity for business leaders to learn from Cuban experts and local contemporaries about the new opportunities, cultural nuances and economic environment of the Cuban Market.

This event takes place from 2 to 6.30pm at the Institute of Critical Thinking, Lecture Rooms 2&3.  Followed by a cocktail reception from6.30 to 7.30pm. Cost is US$300 or TT$1920.

November 6: Cuban Cultural Evening

  • 6 to 7.30pm: Open Forum on Cuba
  • 7.30 to 8pm: Book Launch of El Caribe, sus islas y el difícil camino de la Independencia, la identidad y la intergración by Caribbean scholars from Cuba and other Caribbean countries featuring UWI Institure of International Relations Lecturer, Jacqueline Laguardia Martinez. The book is sponsored by Cátedra de Estudios del Caribe Norman Girvan at the University of Havana (Chair of Caribbean Studies 'Norman Girvan'). To view the book cover, please click here.
