Normal operations resumed at 8:30am on Friday at both the Mona and Western Jamaica Campuses of The University of the West Indies. After a full assessment of the campuses by University officials yesterday, damages caused by Hurricane Sandy are confirmed as minimal, consisting primarily of tree damage.
As a precautionary measure in response to the threat of Tropical Storm Sandy-turned-Category 1 Hurricane, The University of the West Indies’ Mona Campus in Kingston as well as the Western Jamaican Campus in Montego Bay suspended all activities and closed its campuses from 4:00 pm Tuesday, October 23, through Wednesday, October 24, and implemented special arrangements at its halls of residence to ensure the safety of its students, including all regional and international students.
