UWI Sports Management Programmes: Postgraduate Diploma and Master of Science

The Faculty of Social Sciences at The University of the West Indies (UWI) St Augustine invites suitable applicants for the Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Management and the Master of Science (MSc) in Sports Management, both beginning in January 2013.

The diploma will be delivered in collaboration with the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) of Switzerland and under the auspices of the International Federation for Association Football (FIFA) and is intended to provide participants with the educational background necessary for executive management and leadership positions in a variety of sports and recreational fields in the Caribbean region. 

For the postgraduate diploma programme, applicants must possess a degree either from The UWI or another university acceptable to The UWI, with at least Lower Second Class Honours and a demonstrated interest in pursuing a future in sports management. Non-degree holders with a record of active and extensive professional experience in the management and administration of sports supported by a portfolio of evidence will also be considered.

Applicants for the MSc programme must possess a BSc Degree in Sports Management or its equivalent from The UWI or another university acceptable to The UWI, with at least Lower Second Class Honours and must have completed The UWI/FIFA/CIES Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Management with the requisite grades. Other qualifications, including advanced degrees, will be considered on a case by case basis.

Applications for both programmes can only be made online at www.sta.uwi.edu/postgrad/apply.asp on or before November 22nd 2012. Graduates of universities other than The UWI must request that a copy of their official transcript be sent directly from the educational institution to the Office of Graduate Studies and Research at The UWI. All applicants must also successfully undergo an interview.

The postgraduate diploma will be delivered via a Blended Teaching Model, utilizing Online and Web-Based approaches as well as three face-to-face, one-week residential sessions in January, May and August.
