New Campus Registrar for UWI St. Augustine

UWI REGIONAL HEADQUARTERS, Jamaica – The University of the West Indies is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Richard Saunders, formerly Managing Director of Vicar Enterprises Limited and part-time Lecturer at ROYTEC-UWI, as Campus Registrar, St Augustine Campus. Mr Saunders’ appointment took effect on March 1, 2013.

A Trinidadian national, Mr Saunders gained his undergraduate degree from The University of the West Indies, St Augustine in 1976, with a BSc in Electrical Engineering. He subsequently read for a Master’s degree in Electronic Instrumentation at the University of Wales (1978) and also received a Diploma in Public Enterprise Management in 1985 from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad, India.

Mr Saunders has over 35 years’ experience in both the public and private sectors in Project Development, Property Management, Real Estate Sales and Marketing. He was Managing Director of Alston’s Building Enterprises Ltd from 1992 to 1995 and of Guardian Properties Ltd from 1997 to 2000; in between those two jobs he had served as General Manager of the Airports Authority of Trinidad & Tobago from 1995 to 1997. His strong project management skills and ability to lead cross-functional, multilevel management teams will undoubtedly be valuable assets in tackling the challenging post of Campus Registrar.
