Ten for Ten

ST. AUGUSTINE, Trinidad & Tobago – At 10 minutes to 6, on the 27th day of the 10th month, 1010 runners will kick off the 10th edition of The University of the West Indies (UWI) Sport and Physical Education Centre (SPEC) International Half- Marathon. 

This milestone race will once again promote sport and physical education and will feature the winners of the 2012 Half-Marathon as well as national, regional and international distance runners. This 10th edition will focus on giving, promoting the Corporate Social Responsibility efforts of The UWI, with 10 specially-invited persons, dubbed “The 10”, participating in the race, each assigned one of 10 charities, enlisting the public’s support to contribute $10 in support of their chosen charity. 

The 13.1 mile “traffic free” racecourse starts and finishes on the St. Augustine Circular Road in front of UWI SPEC with the turnaround point at La Resource, D’Abadie via the Priority Bus Route. The Half-Marathon is also coordinated to meet international standards and has been certified by the International Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF), the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and sanctioned by the National Association of Athletics Administrations of Trinidad and Tobago (NAAATT). 

The official launch of this event takes place on Friday 27th September at 10:00 a.m. at the Office of the Campus Principal, UWI St. Augustine. The launch will feature the official reveal of “The 10” and the ten charities.
