The event aims to sensitize participants to the new and emerging issues relating to the international human rights system and its linkages to the promotion of sustainable development goals within the Southern Caribbean region.  Additionally, it is hoped to create greater awareness and advocacy aptitudes among the participants, with regard to economic, social and cultural rights and their implementation at the national level.  Lastly, the workshop seeks to build participants’ capacity with respect to meeting their country’s obligations as concerns the preparation and submission of periodic reports to the various international human rights bodies.

Some 30 participants from the 3 countries, selected among senior Government Officials and NGO Representatives, are participating in the workshop.  A group of prominent resource persons and experts, comprising internationally and regionally renowned academics, human rights practitioners and development specialists, will conduct the workshop.
