ST. AUGUSTINE, Trinidad and Tobago – The European Union via the Education, Audio-visual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), is currently accepting applications for scholarships from prospective Caribbean students. These scholarships are made possible through a partnership between EACEA and The University of the West Indies (UWI) since 2008.
The EACEA grants scholarships to students from Caribbean countries as well as staff of The University of the West Indies to pursue studies at some of the best universities in Europe. The partnership is a co-operation and mobility programme aimed at fostering greater understanding and human resources among higher education institutions in Europe and the Caribbean through exchange programmes. To date, more than 450 persons have been granted scholarships.
Three schemes are currently running under the 2013/2014 programme for admissions – the ANGLE, DREAM, and MUNDUS ACP 2 Projects. Through these, UWI students can access Master's and Doctoral programmes, while staff members of The UWI’s four campuses (both academic and administrative) can vie for short-term mobility programmes. The scholarships’ funding covers a monthly allowance, travel and insurance and tuition fees (where applicable).
Deadline for applications is December 15th, 2013. Members of staff at the International Offices of The UWI campuses are available to provide application assistance to interested persons. To learn more, please visit http://sta.uwi.edu/internationaloffice/.
