Fulbright Scholar presents lecture at UWI

The University of the West Indies (UWI), School of Education, St. Augustine, will host a lecture by Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Jaipaul Roopnarine on Wednesday 7th May, 2008 at the School of Education Auditorium Level 2. Dr. Jaipaul Roopnarine will be presenting his lecture, “Father Involvement across Cultures: Implications for Childhood Development” from 4:00 p.m. This lecture is free and open to the public.

Dr. Roopnarine is Professor of Child Development, Syracuse University, Syracuse New York and Fulbright Scholar, School of Education, The University of the West Indies, St Augustine. His research focuses mainly on father-child relationships, Caribbean families and fathers, early childhood education in a global context, and immigrant children and schooling. Currently, he is working with Michael E. Lamb, head of the Socio-Emotional Division of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, on a research project that focuses on parent-infant interactions in African American, European American, and English-speaking Caribbean immigrant families in the United States.
