Arthur Lok Jack (GSB) applauds ‘Organisational Transformation

The University of the West Indies (UWI) Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business (GSB) recently hosted the Second Annual Evening Business Conference & Research Awards, which took place on Wednesday 11th June, 2008. Awards were presented in the categories of Research Award 2008, Most Outstanding Poster and Most Outstanding Oral Presentation.

Mr. Richard Ramsawak, an Executive MBA student, copped the Research Award 2008 for his expansive presentation on “Organizational Transformation in the Development Department of the Ministry of Trade and Industry”. Other winners on the evening were: Ms. Bunny Rambajan: Most Scholarly Presentation Award for ‘Increasing Learning Transfer at Petrotrin’; Ms. Lisa Ramjattan: Best Change Management Project and Most Outstanding Oral Presentation for ‘Performance Management systems for the 21st century – Ministry of Education’; Mr. Ian Forbes: Most Outstanding Poster Presentation for ‘Corporate Entrepreneurship at Caribbean Development Co.’; and Mr. Vaman Bajnath: Most Innovative Project for ‘The Potential Solution for Corporate Air Transportation in the Caribbean and Central America’.

The Evening Business Conference spotlighted the important business research being carried out by postgraduate students with specific emphasis on their real-world application. Students displayed the worth of their Practicum research projects to the business community through the use of oral presentations as well as poster presentations.

This year’s event was adjudicated by Professor Mark Oakley, Acting Executive Director of Lok Jack GSB; Fitzroy Harewood, Human Resources Manager at Yara Trinidad Ltd; and Leo Pujadas, faculty member at Lok Jack GSB. All presenters were assessed based on the suitability of their research methodology and the impact of intervention resulting from their scholastic approach.

The event was strongly endorsed by the business community through significant sponsorship from Atlantic LNG, RBTT Bank and Trinidad Systems Limited.
