The Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business (GSB) recently gave entrepreneurs of Trinidad and Tobago a boost through the launch of their 2nd BDC/ Lok Jack GSB Mentorship Programme. The Mentorship Programme, a joint initiative of Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business and the Business Development Company (BDC), enhances capacity building of small and medium sized enterprises in Trinidad and Tobago. The programme was officially begun with a motivational speech from past mentor Mr. Allan Luke who urged current mentors to learn from the past in order to achieve success.

Mr. Kevin Ali, the Director of Intelligent Investments Services Limited, emphasised his own experiences as a young business owner and shed light on some of the current issues experienced by a host of mentees. The messages were well received by the participants drawn from the pool of small and medium sized businesses supported by the BDC.

This year, the programme welcomes participants from some of Trinidad and Tobago’s leading businesses. Companies such as Intercommercial Bank, Clico Investment Bank, Beacon Insurance, the Neal & Massy Group, Caribbean Chemicals, Esparanto Systems and Downtown Owners and Merchants Association, are all involved in the programme.

The Mentorship Programme is expected to last nine months six which will be used solely for mentoring. The remaining three months are set aside for training, workshops and a Business Improvement Project.
