UWI hosts Caribbean Climate Change forum

The University of the West Indies (UWI) Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social & Economic Studies (SALISES), in collaboration with the French Embassy and the Delegation of the European Commission, will host a forum on the topic “Climate Change and the Caribbean: A clear and present danger?”

The forum will take place on Thursday 4th December, 2008, beginning promptly at 10:00 a.m. in the SALISES Conference Centre at the UWI St. Augustine Campus. The session, which will be chaired by SALISES Director Dr. Patrick Watson, will feature the following panelists: Dr. John Agard, UWI Professor of Biology and Chairman of the Environmental Management Authority of Trinidad and Tobago; Dr. Pascal Saffache, Dean of the Faculty of Human Sciences, University of the French West Indies and French Guyana; and Dr Alan Bachan, Chief Executive Officer, Turtle Village Trust.

Members of the media, the University Community and the general public are invited to attend and to take part in the discussions that will follow the presentation of the panelists. Light refreshments will be served.
