Accepted students and their supporters are invited to UWI Life 2017. This official orientation event happens on September 1 at The UWI Sport and Physical Education Centre (SPEC) by invitation only. Under the theme, Direct Your Story – UWI Life Student Orientation programme lets students write their UWI script by getting involved in extracurricular activities such as clubs, organisations, sporting activities and residence hall activities.  UWI Life Support engages parents, guardians, spouses and supporters to learn firsthand about the campus’ facilities and initiatives directly from Campus management.

Here’s what you can expect:

UWI Life Student Orientation (new students only) | 9am to noon – Prepare for the unexpected in this behind-the-scenes look at life on campus. You will make connections with fellow students, meet your administrators and guild representatives, step outside your comfort zone with interactive activities, giveaways, live performances and more!

Information Village (open to students and parents, guardians, spouses, supporters) | noon to 6pm – Check out booths by Support services, leading vendors and more.

UWI Life Support Orientation (parents, guardians or spouses only) | 5 to 7pm – Here’s your chance to learn what to expect from higher education experts as you transition into the role of college student supporter in this new period of their lives.

Students and supporters would have received their official UWI Life package containing UWI Life Student and UWI Life Support invites in their postbox and via email. If you have not received either of these by August 28, please visit by the Marketing and Communications office from August 28 to 30 from 9am to 4.30pm to pick up your invitations. About The UWI

Since its inception in 1948, The University of the West Indies (UWI) has evolved from a fledgling college in Jamaica with 33 students to a full-fledged, regional University with well over 40,000 students. Today, UWI is the largest, most longstanding higher education provider in the Commonwealth Caribbean, with four campuses in BarbadosJamaicaTrinidad and Tobago, and the Open Campus. The UWI has faculty and students from more than 40 countries and collaborative links with 160 universities globally; it offers undergraduate and postgraduate degree options in Food & Agriculture, Engineering, Humanities & Education, Law, Medical Sciences, Science & Technology and Social Sciences. UWI’s seven priority focal areas are linked closely to the priorities identified by CARICOM and take into account such over-arching areas of concern to the region as environmental issues, health and wellness, gender equity and the critical importance of innovation.
