Experts Assess the State of the Financial Sector in T&T

Falling on the heels of the recent upheaval in the financial sector, The University of the West Indies (UWI) Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social & Economic Studies (SALISES) will host a forum on the state of the financial sector in Trinidad and Tobago on Friday 6th February, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in Seminar Room 1 of the Institute of International Relations, UWI St. Augustine Campus.

The forum will feature prominent experts in the field such as the Honourable Mariano Browne, Minister in the Ministry of Finance; and Mr. Winston Dookeran, Former Governor of the Central Bank of Trinidad & Tobago. Also on the panel are Mr. David Dulal-Whiteway, Managing Director of Republic Bank Ltd and immediate past President of the Bankers’ Association of Trinidad & Tobago; and Dr De Lisle Worrell, Executive Director, UWI Caribbean Centre for Money and Finance.

The forum will be chaired by Professor Patrick Watson and is expected to offer a critical analysis of the current economic climate of Trinidad and Tobago in light of recent developments. Panelists are also expected to answer pertinent questions from members of the public. The forum is free and open to the public.
