Ganga to skipper TT in regional tournament at UWI SPEC

In another move to support regional unity, The University of the West Indies (UWI) will host the Trinidad and Tobago vs. Combined Campuses and College Cricket Tournament. The four-day tournament, which will feature prominent cricketers such as Darren Ganga, Adrian Barath and Lendl Simmons, will be held on the UWI Sport and Physical Education Centre (SPEC), Sir Frank Worrell Cricket Field this weekend, from Friday 6th to Monday 9th February, 2009.                                                                                       

This game is the second regional game of First Class Status to be played at this venue, the first being held in 2005 when Trinidad and Tobago triumphed over Jamaica. Since then the UWI SPEC Facility has hosted numerous warm up games for several auspicious cricket events, including the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup, where teams from South Africa, India, Pakistan utilised the Grounds.

Umpires Mr. Terrence Birbal of Trinidad, Dhierandranath Balgobin of Guyana and Mr. Joel Wilson of Trinidad (standby) will officiate. Mr. Clarence Shaggrali and Boya Sahadeo will serve as Match Referee and Match Adjudicator respectively. This tournament is free of charge, and open to the public.
