UWI COVID-19 Vaccination Drive opens up to the public - Walk-ins welcome on Friday, July 23

The UWI St. Augustine, Trinidad & Tobago. Thursday July 22, 2021 —The University of the West Indies (The UWI) St. Augustine Campus Vaccination drive continues tomorrow, Friday July 23, 2021. The Campus is now opening this service to any interested person, with no appointment needed.

For tomorrow only, members of the general public, over the age of 18 can walk-in to the Campus Vaccination Centre at the University Inn and Conference Centre on St. Augustine Circular Road and receive their first shot of the Sinopharm vaccine. Appointments are no longer mandatory. The Vaccination Centre will be open for this service from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The requirements to access this service are as follows:

·         18 years and over

·         non-pregnant

·         must have at least one form of photo identification on hand

Tomorrow – Friday, July 23, is the final day for administering of the first dose on the Campus.

Numerous medical students and graduates of The UWI St. Augustine Campus have been volunteering and working in tandem with the Campus’ Heath Services Unit to administer the vaccines. This has resulted in a reduced wait time and a comfortable experience for participants.

Professor Indar Ramnarine, Deputy Principal, The UWI St. Augustine Campus expressed his thanks to the hard-working staff and students, “This mass vaccination exercise has indeed shone the light on our dedicated students and staff of The UWI. It is a demonstration of the excellence that exists throughout the University not only in the field of medicine but as caring members of society. I applaud their efforts and encourage members of the public to come out and get vaccinated at the Campus Vaccination Centre.”
