UWI St. Augustine Remembers Jerry Medford

The UWI St. Augustine, Trinidad & Tobago. Friday, March 4, 2022 –The University of the West Indies (UWI) St. Augustine Campus is saddened by the passing of Jerry Medford, President of the St Augustine Chapter of the UWI Alumni Association and Board member of the UWI Development and Endowment Fund (UWIDEF) – having served on both organizations for decades. Medford passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022.  

A registered Engineer in Trinidad and Tobago, Medford was a Fellow, and Past President of The Association of Professional Engineers of Trinidad and Tobago (APETT), as well as a member of The American Society of Civil Engineers, Engineers Without Boarders USA, the Project Management Institute, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Caribbean Branch), an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and a Member of The Society of Construction Law (UK). He was also involved in local Arbitration exercises.  He has also served on the APETT Journal Committee and other APETT working committees and was the Secretary of the Council of Caribbean Engineering Organization (CCEO).  

Mr Medford also served as a member of The UWI St. Augustine Campus' Audit Committee, the Board of Weldfab (Barbados) Ltd. and We Say Yes Organization. He was the Registrar to the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago (BOETT) and has represented the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago at the Campus’ Faculty of Engineering Accreditation exercises. In his capacity as the President of the St Augustine Chapter of the UWI Alumni Association, he was a regular participant in Campus activities such as the annual Graduation and Matriculation ceremonies. He is fondly remembered for his work as Hall Supervisor and as UWI advocate – assisting with the fundraising activities for student bursaries.  

The campus extends condolences to his family, friends, and former colleagues.
