UWI Cocoa Research Centre tackles research and innovation for the Cocoa Industry

The UWI St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad & Tobago. Tuesday 12 July, 2022— The Caribbean is often recognized for its delectable and quality cocoa Units such as the Cocoa Research Centre (CRC), at The University of the West Indies (The UWI), St Augustine Campus has been dedicated to the development of innovative techniques, and rejuvenation of the cocoa industry, while playing a key role in establishing the region's reputation as a top-tier supplier of cocoa, and cocoa-based value-added products.  

Delivering the Address at the Opening Ceremony will be the Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, Senator the Honorable Kazim Hosein. Members of the public are invited to The UWI Cocoa Research Centre Annual Research and Development Symposium 2022.  Themed Research and Innovations to Support Development of the Cocoa Sector, the symposium will highlight advances based on assessments and new initiatives for regional expansion of the cocoa industry and explore opportunities to create lucrative livelihoods.   

Targeted to farmers, industry personnel and Cooperative Research Centers (CRC) funding agencies and advisory board members, the symposium will focus on the innovations in research as well as new developmental initiatives to nurture the growth of the cocoa industry locally and regionally to create lucrative livelihoods within the cocoa industry.
