Flashback – Students of The UWI St. Augustine Campus participate in the 2012 Matriculation and Welcome Ceremony

ST. AUGUSTINE, Trinidad and Tobago. Tuesday, September 13, 2022 – The past few weeks have seen the return of face-to-face classes and a packed schedule of orientation activities and events at The University of the West Indies (The UWI) St. Augustine Campus. On Thursday, September 15, 2022 the Campus will host its 2022 Matriculation and Welcome Ceremony for first-year students. This year's ceremony will take place on the JFK Quadrangle from 5 p.m.

The Matriculation Ceremony, which is open to all first-year students, is a decades-long tradition where new students sign the University register, recite the academic vow, and are recognised as members of the academic community of The University of the West Indies. Academic staff of The UWI are expected to participate in the academic procession.

Invitees are asked to be guided by the following traffic and parking arrangements. In an effort to avoid the normal, daily vehicular traffic congestion at the South Gate after 3:00pm, guests are encouraged to utilize the Heart Ease, Daaga, and Administration Gates, to access the campus for parking. Vehicles may also access the campus via the South Gate to drop-off persons at the JFK Undercroft.

Persons are kindly advised not to visit the campus if not essential. Vehicles will be screened on entry at the gates and persons will be directed to the respective carparks. The following parking areas will be available for anyone accessing the campus for the Matriculation and Welcome Day Ceremony.

  • Heart Ease Car Park
  • Carmody Road Car Park
  • TGR North Car Park

The Campus will also provide Shuttle service transportation between the hours of 3:00pm to 8:00pm, to convey persons to and from the TGR North, Heart Ease and Carmody Road Car parks and the Matriculation venue.
