Spotlight on Climate Change and Disaster Management as UWI hosts Conference on the Economy

 ST. AUGUSTINE, Trinidad and Tobago. Tuesday 1 November, 2022 The public is invited to participate in the 16thAnnual Conference on the Economy (COTE) on November 3 and 4, 2022, via Zoom. 

COTE, a landmark event, presents findings from quality research and other studies to inform economic and social policy. Hosted by the St Augustine Campus of The University of the West Indies (The UWI) St. Augustine Campus, COTE highlights key economic issues facing Trinidad and Tobago and, by extension, the wider Caribbean region in light of the present global environment.  

The 2022 conference explores Climate Change and Disaster Management: Towards Sustainable Development for Small Island Developing States and will address such sub-themes as the economics of natural disasters: disaster management, risk management, policy implementation, the economics of climate change, adaptation and mitigation and economic issues facing Caribbean countries or the Caribbean region. 

The virtual conference will be held on Thursday 03rd November and Friday 04th November 2022 via zoom at 1:00 p.m. [AST]. It will feature Ian Durant, Director of the Economics Department of the Caribbean Development Bank.  He has done research on debt sustainability and debt restructuring and has worked on policy-based loans for Caribbean countries that involved debt restructuring.
