TechAgri Expo is back UWI and Ministry of Youth Development and National Service to focus on Youth

St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. September 14, 2023- Get ready to immerse yourself in the forefront of agricultural technology as you explore ground-breaking agri-tech innovations and witness youth-led agricultural start-ups in action. The University of the West Indies (The UWI), Faculty of Food and Agriculture, is excited to extend an exclusive invitation to the public for a much-anticipated event that is poised to revolutionize agriculture in the region: the TechAgri Expo 2023. This event will be held from Friday, September 22nd, to Sunday, September 24th, 2023 (9AM to 6PM), at The UWI, St. Augustine Campus.

 The theme of this year's TechAgri Expo is "Empowering Youth Entrepreneurship through Agricultural Technology," reflecting the event's mission to empower the youth and ignite a technological revolution in agriculture. At TechAgri Expo 2023, participants will have the opportunity to engage in interactive workshops and demos, savour delicious farm-to-table treats, and, most importantly, ignite your passion for agriculture and entrepreneurship. Additionally, there will be a mini zoo and a dedicated children's park at the expo to cater to the younger attendees.

 This year, the outdoor exposition is being held in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Development and National Service (MYDNS) and will place an emphasis on youth entrepreneurship in agriculture in commemoration of the Commonwealth Year of the Youth 2023. Together, these institutions are embarking on a journey to unlock the full potential of agricultural technology, with a particular focus on empowering the region's youth.

 Professor Mark Wuddivira, Dean of the Faculty of Food and Agriculture at The UWI St. Augustine Campus stated, "TechAgri Expo 2023 is not just an event; it's a movement. We are joining forces with the Ministry of Youth Development and National Service to showcase our young talent, nurture innovation, and spearhead sustainable advancements within the agri-food and environmental sector and drive sustainable growth in our region. This collaboration is a testament to our commitment to create a brighter future for the agri-food and environmental sector and the youth of our region."

 TechAgri Expo 2023 is set to be a transformative experience that champions education, bolsters food security, fosters youth engagement, and drives sustainable growth in agriculture. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to witness first-hand the latest advancements in agricultural technology, engage with industry experts, and participate in workshops and discussions that aim to inspire the next generation of agricultural visionaries and entrepreneurs.

 The UWI St. Augustine Campus invites all to be a part of this event and join us in sowing the seeds of innovation, nurturing the future of agriculture, and cultivating empowered youth entrepreneurs. Together, we can shape a brighter and more sustainable future for all.

 ·         $10 for children ages 5-12

·         $20 ages 12 and above

·         Admission is free for children under 5

·         Admission is free for primary and secondary school students in uniform and accompanying teachers on school sanctioned field trips on Friday 22nd September 2023
