St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. November 10, 2023. — In a powerful assembly on Friday, September 22, 2023, The University of the West Indies (The UWI) St. Augustine Campus was proud to host the esteemed alumni of the Freedom (formerly Milner) Hall Network Group (FMHNG) at its Main Administration Building. This significant meet-and-greet was a highlight of the group’s extensive reunion tour and provided the perfect setting for the official launch of the "Dr. Keith Archibald Benevolent Fund."

Noted for their influential roles and contributions, the FMHNG brings together former residents of Freedom (Milner) Hall from 1960 to 1990. The group includes respected individuals such as Professor Brian Copeland, past principal of The UWI St. Augustine Campus, and The Honourable Chief Justice Ivor Archie O.R.T.T., both of whom graced the launch with their presence. Over the years, this network has made its mark through a dedicated mentorship initiative and the provision of significant bursaries, furthering student achievements and enriching campus life.

Notably, the reunion was more than just a gathering; it was also a tribute to the enduring connections and shared legacy with the campus as the inauguration of the "Dr. Keith Archibald Benevolent Fund" became a landmark moment with FMHNG's substantial contribution of TTD $10,000, honouring Dr. Archibald’s pivotal mentorship legacy. The late Dr. Archibald, a former Warden of Freedom (Milner) Hall, played a crucial role as a mentor to many of the institution's former students.

Expressing profound appreciation, Dr. Deirdre Charles, Director of Student Services and Development (DSDD), indicated, “We are deeply appreciative of your unwavering commitment to student success and development at our campus through your enduring mentorship program and your generous contributions of bursaries."

The ceremony saw the participation of distinguished guests such as Professor Indar Ramnarine, Deputy Principal of The UWI St. Augustine Campus, Campus Registrar Dr. Dawn-Marie De Four-Gill, and Mr. Tyrese St. Louis, Vice President of the Guild of Students. The event marked an unforgettable chapter in the University's annals, celebrating the enduring spirit of Freedom (Milner) Hall and the transformative influence of its alumni on both the institution and its future leaders.
