UWI St. Augustine Academy of Sport Triumphs in Monarch Basketball Classic

St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago, November 17, 2023 - The University of the West Indies (The UWI) Basketball Team achieved an impressive victory in the Monarch Basketball Classic, securing the championship title with a commanding 94-78 win over the University of Guyana. Held from Sept 21-24, 2023, the Monarch Basketball Classic was a thrilling invitational tournament hosted by The UWI Basketball Team. This premier event showcased regional and local top-tier tertiary basketball talent in exhilarating matches, and an unforgettable experience for players and fans alike.

The UWI team displayed remarkable talent, perseverance, and collaboration in an exciting game played at the St. Augustine Academy of Sport. Ultimately, The UWI team outperformed their opponents to win the coveted Monarch Basketball Classic title, in this thrilling event. The intense and fast-paced game drew an enthusiastic crowd of fans who witnessed the outstanding skills and sportsmanship of both teams.

The team showed a great dedication and a display of dexterity as the victory was credited to the athletes' perseverance and hard work. Their commitment to developing and nurturing their talent has paid off in this prestigious tournament, which featured fierce competition.

The Monarch Basketball Classic championship victory is not only a source of pride for the UWI St. Augustine community but also an inspiration for aspiring athletes across the region.
