The UWI Regional Headquarters, Jamaica, WI. Tuesday, May 21, 2024—The University of the West Indies (The UWI) is pleased to announce its gold prize in the 'Special Promotions Campaign' category from the 39th Annual Educational Advertising Awards (EduADAwards) for its outstanding 75th anniversary digital launch campaign.

The Educational Advertising Awards, recognised as the most prominent educational advertising awards competition in the US, is a highly competitive platform showcasing the best educational marketing and communication. The panel of judges consist of higher education marketers, advertising creative directors, and marketing and advertising professionals.

The UWI's 75th anniversary digital campaign, which included the reveal of the anniversary theme, logo, and a sequenced video package, was reviewed among more than 2,000 entries received from over 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools from all fifty US states and several foreign countries. Other Gold Award winners include Johns Hopkins University, New York University, and MIT Professional Education.

University Director of Marketing and Communications, Dr Rhonda Jaipaul-O'Garro, said, "We are proud that the 75th anniversary campaign was spearheaded by the University Marketing and Communications Office and the award-winning logo and launch videos were all produced by competent in-house teams' resident within our university system. Our 'gold standard' is proven by these industry accolades. This is our sixth international award. We've consistently shown our ability to innovate, be creative, and communicate our brand effectively and impactfully. We look forward to continuing our momentum.”

The UWI's jubilee anniversary campaign also earned a gold honour in the 17th annual edition of the AVA Digital Awards earlier this year. Before that, in 2022 The UWI won two global accolades for the redesign of the University's central website, www.uwi.edu. In 2021, it won two golds for its E-Publication in Climate Action, its COVID-19 Task Force Website, and special merit for its Climate Advocacy and Action Website.
