St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago – May 26, 2025 – The University of the West Indies (The UWI), St. Augustine Campus hosted its Open Days 2025 on May 17 and 18, welcoming more than 3,000 registered guests to the JFK Quadrangle over the two-day event. The free public event was designed to give prospective students, parents, professionals and alumni a closer look at the academic and personal growth opportunities available at The UWI.

Thousands of prospective students engaged with the Campus resulting in a significant boost in possible students across multiple programmes. The event also reinforced ongoing efforts to encourage final-year undergraduates to consider postgraduate studies at UWI, with tailored engagement strategies aimed at helping them see the value of continuing their academic journey right here at home.

There was a tremendous response to the career guidance sessions, which helped students better understand their options and how their interests can align with future careers. Parents also found great value in the financial information sessions, which covered the cost of programmes, details on Government Assistance for Tuition Expenses (GATE) Programme, and the more than 335 scholarships and bursaries available to students to make access to tertiary education more affordable.

Guests explored a world of possibilities, from undergraduate and postgraduate degrees to certificate and professional development programmes. The Open Days featured interactive booths from all eight faculties, guided campus tours, innovation showcases and hands-on activities. Attendees engaged directly with faculty, student ambassadors and student support services staff to gain personalised insights into university life.
